Seminar of Students to Discuss His Holiness’ Biography
Dharamshala 13 June 2005: More than 1,000 students of the Tibetan Children’s Village School will hear 30 class XII students speak on various aspects of the life history of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in a day-long seminar organised Wednesday by the Department of Education of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA).
The seminar forms a part of a series of programmes that will be organised throughout the year to celebrate His Holiness’ 70th birthday.
Hailing from 15 different schools from across India and Nepal, the students will give their perspectives on topics ranging from the origin of the lineage of the Dalai Lamas to His Holiness’ efforts to reform Tibet before the arrival of Chinese in 1949 to His Holiness’ efforts to resolve the Tibetan issue and to promote global peace and universal responsibility.
Mr. Pema Jungney, chairman of the Assembly of the Tibetan People’s Deputies (ATPD), will be the chief guest of the seminar organised at the TCV School hall.
Also present at the seminar will be a motley group of dignitaries of the CTA, including the chief justice commissioner and justice commissioners, the kalons, members of the Standing Committee of ATPD and secretaries of the departments.
The video CDs of the seminar will be distributed to all the 81 Tibetan schools spread across India, Nepal and Bhutan.
