
Paris, 9 November: Tibetan communities leaders in Europe met in the French capital, Paris, during the weekend to plan for a large rally for Tibet on 14 March 2015 in Paris.
The two Tibetan Parliamentarians Ven. Thubten Wangchen and Mr. Wangpo Tethong, the Presidents of the Tibetan Communities including International Campaign for Tibet and Swiss-based Tibetan Women‘s Association met on Saturday and held the first preparatory meeting.
The 14 March 2015 rally in Paris will commemorate the 56th anniversary of Tibetan people’s uprising on 10 March 1959 in Tibet’s capital city Lhasa against the Chinese occupation of Tibet.
Mr. Thupten Gyatso, the President of the Tibetan Community in France chaired the meeting. Steering Committee members were elected and the budget and general program were discussed.
The Presidents agreed that each of the Tibetan Communities would mobilise Tibetans and Tibet supporters from across Europe for the rally for Tibet in Paris on 14 March 2015.
In the run up to the 56th commemoration of the Tibetan people’s uprising against the Chinese occupation of Tibet, special lobby campaigns will be organized in countries where Tibetans live in Europe.
