A New Inter-Parliamentary Group for Tibet Formed in South Africa

Dharamshala (TibetNet): South African parliamentarians have formed a South Africa Inter-Parliamentary Group for Tibet (SAIPGT) and it will be inaugurated tomorrow at the South African Parliament in Cape Town. There are around 25 parliamentarians of South Africa in this group.
Mr. Tony Leon, leader of the opposition, Prince Buthelezi, president of the Inkata Freedom Party and also a former home minister of South Africa and 25 other distinguished members of the South African Parliament will be present at the inaugural ceremony.
Dawa Phunkyi, member of the Assembly of Tibetan People’s Deputies will join the inauguration of SAIPGT from Tibetan side. He is also expected to address the inaugural function.
SAIPGT joins the other 27 parliamentary support groups for Tibet in worldwide, in which parliamentarians play an effective role in supporting the just cause of Tibet.
During his 3-day visit to South Africa, deputy Dawa Phunkyi will also inaugurate a new Tibet Support Group called Tibet-Africa Rainbow Allaince (TARA) at the Cape Town Medi-spa this evening. The inauguration of the TARA is being coordinated by a long-time supporter of Tibet, Mr. Ian Macfarlane, and his friends.
