A New Foundation for Tibet Launched in Indonesia

Dharamshala: A delegation of the Roof of the World Foundation, led by chairman Mr. Enrico B. Soekarno, was on its first visit here from 24 to 27 June 2006.
The Roof of the World Foundation is established in Indonesia under the leadership of Dr. Abdurrahman Wahid, former President of Indonesia.
The main purpose of the foundation is to organise interfaith dialogues between different faiths to bring religious harmony which is one of the three life-long commitments of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
The foundation will also inform the people of Indonesia about Tibet, its culture and relationship between Tibet and Indonesia.
In this connection, the 4-member delegation of the foundation extended an invitation to His Holiness the Dalai Lama on behalf of its founder Dr. Wahid to visit Indonesia to take part in interfaith dialogue.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama has kindly accepted the invitation and he is likely to visit Indonesia in 2007.
The delegation met with Kalon Tripa Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche and Mr. Karma Choephel, chairman of the Assembly of the Tibetan People’s Deputies.
The Kashag hosted a dinner reception for the delegation.
The delegation comprised of Mr. Enrico B. Soekarno, the chairman, Mr. Agara W. Subyakto, Mr. Gregorius A. Awal and Mr. Krishna I. Suharnoko, who are members of the foundation.
The delegation was accompanied by Mr. Tenzin Phuntsok Atisha, the Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Australia.
