
DHARMSHALA: The ongoing travelling exhibition on Tibet organised by the Tibet Museum of the Central Tibetan Administration is witnessing a drove of visitors in northeastern India.
The photographic exhibition showcases the Tibetan people’s journey into exile and their long look towards their homeland.
“The exhibition and organised at Darjeeling from 25 – 29 June drew good number of visitors, which include Tibetans, local Indians, and tourists. The screening of documentary films on Tibet saw a lively participation of elders as well youth of the local Tibetan community,” the museum officials told TibetNet website in an e-mail message.
“Moreover, at the suggestion of the principal of Central School for Tibetans, Darjeeling, we also organised the exhibition and film screenings at the school on 29 June. It would help the Tibetans schoolchildren to know about the challenges faced by the elder generation and the importance of the younger generation to carry the struggle forward,” the officials said.
The regional news channels like 24 Ghanta, Kolkata TV and Samay Dainik (Nepali daily), and national newspaper The Telegraph carried detailed reports about the exhibition.
The exhibition will be subsequently held at Tibetans settlements in Kalimpong, Gangtok and Ravangla.
