Paonta Sahib: The Local Ghoton Organising Committee of the Paonta Cholsum Tibetan Settlement held a prayer service on 20 May, coinciding with White Wednesday, for the long life and wellbeing of His Holiness the Dalai Lama at the settlement’s community hall.

The prayer service was part of the programmes marking the year-long celebration of His Holiness’ 90th birth year, observed as the Year of Compassion.

Similar prayer services, distribution of food and clothing to the needy, and the release of captive animals, among other initiatives, were also being held across India and other parts of the world by members of the Tibetan community, as well as devotees and followers of His Holiness, as part of the Ghoton celebrations.
