Vienna: During the ongoing European cultural tour, the delegation of the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts (TIPA), led by Director Dhondup Tsering, visited the renowned Brunnengasse Cultural Centre in Vienna through the coordination and initiative of Austria-based Tibetan cultural supporter Tenzin Youdon.
The TIPA delegation, comprising the Artistic Director, teachers, senior artists, and a total of 15 members, held a meaningful meeting with Brunnengasse Director Anne Wiederhold-Daryanavard and Secretary Gabriella. During the meeting, Anne Wiederhold introduced the background and mission of Brunnengasse, which was established in 2007 to promote intercultural understanding, social inclusion, and trust-building through artistic platforms such as theatre, dance, music, exhibitions, and film. The centre organises nearly 400 multicultural events annually, representing diverse cultural, linguistic, and ethnic communities.
On behalf of TIPA, Director Dhondup Tsering expressed sincere gratitude for the warm reception and the opportunity to engage with one of Vienna’s respected intercultural cultural institutions. He highlighted TIPA’s mission to preserve and promote the unique heritage of Tibetan performing arts and shared the institution’s participation in prestigious international festivals and cultural exchange programmes worldwide.
Recognising the cultural significance and international reputation of Brunnengasse, TIPA also requested consideration for participation in the centre’s future annual arts festivals and collaborative intercultural programmes in Vienna. As part of the visit, TIPA artists presented a traditional Tibetan cultural song accompanied by music, which was warmly appreciated and enthusiastically received by those present.
The Brunnengassae representatives expressed appreciation for Tibetan culture and conveyed their willingness to explore possible future collaborations and discussions with relevant international festival organisers. The successful cultural exchange meeting was made possible through the dedicated efforts and support of Tenzin Youdon, a Tibetan residing in Austria with a deep commitment to promoting Tibetan culture and arts internationally.
