
Kullu Manali: On 2 and 3 January 2026, as part of the “Year of Compassion” programme and commemorating His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama’s 90th Birth year—designated the “Year of Compassion”— the Kullu-Manali local Ghoton Organising Committee, along with community members, hosted a clothes distribution event for needy families during the winter season. The event took place across Kullu-Manali and Bhuntar for needy persons.
The committee collect clothing from community members and donates it to poor and needy Indian residents in the area, providing essential support amid harsh winter conditions. On 2 January, members of the local Ghoton Organising Committee and community members jointly distributed large quantities of winter clothing to needy Indian residents in Bhuntar and Kullu village areas. The Tibetan Settlement Office Secretary addressed the gathering, explaining the purpose of the celebration activities. The local residents expressed their gratitude for the clothing assistance and offered prayers for His Holiness’s long life.
On 3 January 2026, needy residents from the Manali village area gathered at Von Ngari Monastery, followed by clothes distribution from the committee. In the Manali region, the local Ghoton Organising Committee also distributed clothing to additional needy Nepali families.
These activities were primarily conducted based on His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s teachings and guidance, aimed at promoting compassion and social welfare, and helping those in need through compassionate action. Finally, the local Ghoton Organising Committee served refreshment and snacks to the representatives who participated in the clothing distribution programme.
