Herbertpur, Dehradun: As part of the Year of Compassion Programme, a blanket distribution drive was organised by the Herbertpur Tibetan Settlement from 10 to 12 December 2025 to provide relief to local migrant labourers exposed to harsh winter conditions. The initiative aimed to extend warmth and humanitarian support to individuals living in extremely difficult circumstances during the winter season.
The programme was conducted at Vikasnagar, Selakui, ISBT Dehradun, and Dehradun Railway Station, where a significant number of migrant labourers were found residing under bridges and in open or temporary shelters. These individuals are particularly vulnerable to cold weather due to the lack of proper housing and basic winter necessities. In addition, blankets were distributed at Sahaspur NGO to approximately 25 children with mental and physical disabilities from economically weaker local families residing in Sahaspur and Rampur.
In honour of His Holiness’ assurance of living up to 130 years on the occasion of His 90th birthday, a total of 130 blankets were distributed in a systematic and dignified manner to ensure that assistance reached the most deserving beneficiaries. This initiative not only provided protection from the severe winter cold but also conveyed a message of compassion, solidarity, and care, in alignment with the core values of the Year of Compassion Programme.
The Tibetan Settlement Office, Herbertpur, extended its sincere gratitude to all volunteers, supporters, and community members who contributed to the success of this initiative. May we continue to uphold His Holiness’s vision by serving others with kindness, unity, and compassion.
