
Geneva: On 13 December 2025, Tibetan Community in Switzerland and Liechtenstein (TCSL) commemorated the 36th anniversary of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize with a gathering held at 12:00 noon at the Bulach Assembly Hall in Zurich.
The commemoration was attended by the Abbot of Rikon Monastery as its chief guest, along with representative from the Tibet Bureau Geneva, presidents of the TCSL, and other distinguished guests from governmental and non-governmental organisations.
The ceremony commenced with singing of Tibetan national anthem and Nobel Peace Prize tribute songs, led by the Tibetan Folklore Society.
Ngedun Gyatso Drongpatsang, President of the TCSL, delivered the welcome address and spoke on the significance of the occasion. Abbot of Rikon Monastery then addressed the gathering, highlighting the tireless and dedicated efforts of His Holiness the Dalai Lama for the Tibetan cause and the welfare of Tibetans, and underscored the importance of unity and solidarity among Tibetans.
Subsequently, Tenzin Choesang from the Tibet Bureau read out the statement of the Kashag (Cabinet), followed by the reading of the statement from the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile by Kalsang Namgyal Kangrang, the Vice President of TCSL. The programme continued with cultural performances by local Tibetan associations, Tibetan school students, the Tibetan Folklore Society, and other community organisations.
The commemoration concluded with a vote of thanks from Kalsang Namgyal Kangrang. The event ended with a community dinner, during which participants joined together in Tibetan circle dance (gorshey), bringing the programme to a meaningful close.
