
Geneva, 26 November 2025: A delegation from the Office of Tibet conducted a series of high-level diplomatic and advocacy meetings in Geneva aimed at strengthening international engagement on issues affecting Tibet and the Tibetan community. The delegation was led by Thinlay Chukki, Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, and included Phuntsok Topgyal, UN Advocacy Officer.
The delegation’s engagements began with discussions with H.E. Greg G.D. Lee, Ambassador of Taiwan to Geneva, Switzerland, and Richard Jingyao Lin, First Secretary. These talks focused on exploring opportunities for collaboration through conferences, workshops, and other initiatives designed to foster dialogue, cultural exchange, and mutual understanding between Tibet and Taiwan.
Further meetings were held with the International Service for Human Rights (ISHR) to identify potential areas for joint initiatives and advocacy collaboration. She also presented Voice for the Voiceless, a book by His Holiness the Dalai Lama, as a gesture of goodwill.
In the afternoon, the delegation participated in a closed-door session with staff from the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and representatives of the Special Rapporteur on the Right to Education, discussing strategies to strengthen educational opportunities for Tibetan communities.
The delegation also met with representatives from the United Kingdom Mission at the Palais des Nations to deliberate on the Residential Schools Report 2025, published by the Tibet Action Institute.
The Geneva delegation included Representative Thinlay Chukki of the Office of Tibet in Geneva, UN Advocacy Officer Phuntsok Topgyal, Chinese Liaison Officer Sangay Kyap, Tenzin Dorjee representing Tibet Action Institute, Pema Dolma and Tselha from Students for a Free Tibet.
These meetings underscore the Office of Tibet’s enduring commitment to promoting human rights, safeguarding Tibetan cultural heritage, and advancing educational opportunities for Tibetan communities worldwide. The delegation’s work in Geneva demonstrates the ongoing effort to engage the international community in meaningful dialogue and collaborative action on issues critical to Tibet and Tibetans globally.
