Luneburg, Germany: Kalon (Minister) Norzin Dolma of the Department of Information and International Relations concluded her six-day official diplomatic visit to Northern Germany on 29 June 2025 marking the final chapter of a comprehensive visit aimed at deepening ties between the Central Tibetan Administration and German political and cultural institutions.
The concluding days of the visit featured intensive diplomatic activities beginning 28 June in Hamburg. Kalon Norzin Dolma, joined by Under Secretary Migmar Bhuti and fellow South Asian delegation members, engaged in substantive discussions on minority political representation with key figures including Hosam el Miniawy, State Chair of Liberale Vielfalt and Chairwoman Brechna Amin during meetings at Cafe Paris.
The delegation’s final day centred on Luneburg, where they were formally received at the historic City Hall of Luneburg by Mayor Jule Grunau and Dr. Frank Soldan, Chair of the FDP parliamentary group. The visit’s ceremonial highlight included Kalon Norzin Dolma’s participation in the traditional Golden Book signing and her witnessing of the Tibetan flag raising in front of the City Hall, a gesture Kalon characterised as profoundly symbolic of German solidarity with Tibet.
Cultural diplomacy formed another cornerstone of the final day’s agenda, with Museum Director Dr. Mahnert providing a specialised tour of the Ostpreußisches Landesmuseum. The tour emphasised themes of diaspora cultural preservation.
Following an exploration of Luneburg’s medieval architecture and historical sites, Kalon Norzin Dolma departed Hamburg on 29 June to Munich, bringing the comprehensive six-day mission to a close.
The visit successfully organised by Frederich Naumann Foundation, South Asia under the leadership of Dr. Carsten Klein and his team, established robust frameworks for ongoing German-Tibetan cooperation while exemplifying effective diaspora diplomacy through structured political engagement and cultural exchange. The mission’s timing proves particularly significant amid heightened international focus on human rights conditions in China and the evolving situation inside Tibet.
