BOMDILA:
As a part of 50 years programme, the Tibet Museum of Department of
Information and International Relations (DIIR), showcased a photo
exhibition on Tibet titled “Journey into Exile” and “Long Look
Homewards” for two days at Thubchog Gatsel Ling Monastery, in Bomdila,
Arunachal Pradesh from 31 March to 1 April 2011.On 31 March, at
around 10.00 AM, Honorable chief guest, Khen Rinpoche of Gontse Gaden
Rabgay Ling Monastery, graced the function. The manager (shagzod) of
the Thubchog Gatsel Ling Monastery was guest of honor. Mr. Dorjee
Rigzin, the Settlement Officer of the Bomdila and Tenzing Gang
Settlement welcomed the distinguish guests and gave a brief
introduction about the Tibet Museum exhibition programme. Mr. Tashi
Phuntsok, the Officer In-charge of the Traveling Exhibition, presented
a detail introduction about the Tibet Museum, aims and purpose of
holding exhibition in the city, and gave a brief outline about the
photos displayed in the exhibition.Later, Khen Rinpoche
inaugurated the exhibition and soon after, large number of people
including monks, Tibetans and local populace thronged to visit the
photo exhibition. The photo exhibition depicted the Tibetan journey
into exile for the last 50 years and Tibet’s past and present situation
inside.In the evening, a Tibet-related documentary movies
titled “What Remains of Us” and “Uprising in Tibet – 2008” were
screened to the monks of the Thubchog Gatsel Ling Monastery at 4.00 p.m
and to local Tibetan populace at 6.00 p.m. The above mentioned
documentary movies were also screened at Gontse Gaden Rabgay Ling
Monastery on 1 April 2011 at 6.00 p.m.More than 1000 Tibetans
and local people including Secret Intelligence Bureau (SIB) official
visited the two-day exhibition. The exhibition received high
appreciation and acclaims from the visitors and the Tibet Museum was
urged to carry similar kind of exhibition in near future in and around
the city. The Tibet Museum traveling exhibition team will be holding
their next photo exhibition at Tawang Monastery from 3-4 April 2011.More photos:
