DHARAMSHALA:
The Central School for Tibetans based in Paonta Sahib in the northern
state of Himachal Pradesh organised a day-long exhibition and
plantation as a tribute to His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s remarkable
spiritual and temporal leadership.The schoolchildren from the primary section to Class VIII participated in the event held on 11 February 2011. “We
had organised this photo exhibition depicting the life history of His
Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama to express our deep gratitude to His
Holiness for his remarkable service to the cause of Tibet since
assuming the spiritual and temporal leadership of Tibet,” the school
administration said in a statement.The schoolchildren and guests plant saplings around the school temple on the occasion.A
wide range of photos on His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s lifetime
commitments, efforts for world peace, numerous awards conferred on him,
books and visits and teachings in different parts of the world were put
on display.

The
settlement officers of Paonta Sahib, Purwala, Sataun and Lakhanwala,
and school principals and children from vocational training centre in
Selakui and Tibetan schools in Herbertpur and Puruwala took part in the
event.The school was established in 1968 and is presently
administered by the Sambhota Tibetan Schools Society under the aegis of
the Department of Education of the Central Tibetan Administration. The
school is one of the leading senior secondary schools affiliated to the
Central Board of Secondary Education, which is providing quality
traditional and modern education to the Tibetan children.It has around 377 students and 53 teaching and non-teaching staff.(Click here to know more about Sambhota Schools)
