Tokyo: Representative Dr. Arya Tsewang Gyalpo of the Office of Tibet Japan & East Asia presided over the handing and taking over of the old and new Board members of the Tibetan Community Japan (TCJ) at the Tibet House office on Saturday.
Kalden Obara, outgoing President of the Tibetan community, appraised the Representative of the cash, assets, and pending work handed over to the new President, Tenzin Sherab, and his team. He further thanked the Office of Tibet for all the guidance and support accorded to him and the members during their two-year tenure and promised continued service and dedication.
Tenzin Sherab, the new President of the TCJ, greeted and introduced his team to the Representative and staff members of the Office of Tibet. He said he and his team are committed to serving the community and will focus on uniting the Tibetans by organising many events and festivals.
Representative Arya thanked the outgoing 11th board members for their dedicated service in promoting Tibet-related events and working closely with the Office of Tibet. He welcomed and congratulated the new members and said he look forward to working with them in the coming two years. He explained the importance of working closely with the Tibetan Community and the Tibet Support Group in promoting the Tibet issue.
The new 12th Tibetan Community Japan’s board member consists of 7 members, with Tenzin Sherap and Tenzin Kunga as President and Vice-President, respectively.
Tashi Yangzom, Secretary of the Tibet House, concluded the function and informed the gathering of the announcement of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) to offer long-life prayers to His Holiness the Dalai Lama in February on behalf of all the Tibetans in and outside Tibet.
