Tibetan Population Information System (TPIS) is a formal database duly approved by the Kashag under the Department of Home, Central Tibetan Administration. The goal of this project is to keep a digital record of Tibetans in exile dispersed all over the world so as to maintain authentic Tibetan demographics for improved governance and services.
TPIS is currently in the process of providing full proof PVC Identity Cards (ID) for all the Tibetans who are registered in TPIS. If not done so, you can still register yourself in the TPIS by visiting your nearest settlement office (Office of Tibet for those living outside India, Nepal and Bhutan) with your Green Book and country based ID.
The purpose of issuing the ID cards is a way towards E-governance and a step towards digitalizing the whole demographic information system for all official purposes without having to carry a bunch of attested documents whenever CTA services availed. These ID cards with their unique number will act as a one-stop-shop for all CTA services without any hustle. It also carries your Aadhaar number (Passport number for Tibetans living abroad), Green Book number for all purposes.
For this, TPIS has initiated the process of the photo collection of all the Tibetans registered with the TPIS database along with the Aadhaar card number. Tibetans who are already registered with the TPIS database will be contacted through the medium of WhatsApp and will be requested to send a descent passport size photo and further advised to type their Aadhar number and send it to that particular WhatsApp account. This way their photo and Aadhaar number will be automatically updated to the TPIS database.
Receivers of certain WhatsApp messages are advised not to panic and follow the due process sincerely. Make sure the photo you submit are well taken so that you do not face any problem in the authentication.
