
London: Mr Sonam Tsering Frasi, Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama for Northern Europe, Baltic States and Poland based in London office participated in the Virtual Event Series titled: ‘Religious Freedom in China: A Spotlight on Repression’ jointly organised by Henry Jackson Society (HJS) and Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW) on 16th July 2020 representing Tibet in the field of human rights and freedoms in Tibet.
The other two speakers include Mr Dolkun Isa representing Xinjiang and Mr Benedict Rogers representing CSW human rights organization and joint organiser of this event. Mr B Rogers is a human right activist and founder and chair of Hong Kong watch. He spoke on the repression of various religious groups under the communist Chinese regime.
Representative Mr Sonam Frasi in his presentation briefly spoke about China’s illegal invasion of Tibet including cultural genocide, religious repression, destruction of monasteries and nunneries, meddling into reincarnation of religious teachers by the imposition of law regulating reincarnation system of Tibetan Buddhism and introducing patriotic re-education policy in Tibet. He also reiterates the abduction of 11th Panchen Lama immediately after being recognized by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama as the reincarnation of 10th Panchen Lama when he was six years old.
The Henry Jackson Society is a London-based, trans-Atlantic, foreign policy think tank. Its purpose, in the first instance, is to promote liberal democracy across the world. Currently, its main focus is supporting global democracy in the face of threats from China and Russia.
