
Dharamshala: Kalon Sonam Topgyal Khorlatsang, Department of Home, CTA attended the cremation ceremony of Drupwang Wangdor Rinpoche and offered prayers for his swift rebirth.
The ceremony began early morning with a prayer service led by Ringku Trulku, Zigar Chaktrul Rinpoche, Tashi Jong Togden, Zongsar Khenchen and monks before the cremation site.
The cremation ceremony was marked with offering of Tibetan scarfs to the holy remains of Drupwang Wangdor Rinpoche by the representatives from various monasteries, official dignitaries, monks and disciples from from around the world, followed by sacred rituals of cremation.
Others present were Speaker of Tibetan Parliament-in-exile Pema Jugney, Member of Tibetan Parliament from Kagyu tradition Ven Tenpa Yarphel, National Convener R K Khrimey, Core Group for Tibetan Cause, Jigmey Tsultrim, Coordinator, India Tibet Coordination Office( ITCO), Tenzin Namgyal, Administrative Officer, Mandi Tibetan settlement, Jigme Tsetan, Coordinator, Tso Pema, khenpos and lamas.
Drupwang Wangdor Rinpoche was born in 1925 in Kham, Eastern Tibet. Rinpoche was a noted Tibetan Dzogchen master who followed both Nyingma and Kagyu tradition. He is one of the spritual heads of Zigar monastery in Tso Pema – Rewalsar and initiated the construction of monumental statue of Guru Rinpoche above the lake.
Rinpoche breathed in his last on 18 September 2019 at his residence in Tso Pema.
