91% of Tibetan students clears Plus 2 exams

Dharamshala: About 91% of Tibetan students have passed the Plus 2 exams conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education earlier this March.
Out of 1051 students who appeared in the All India Senior School Certificate Examination, 954 students have successfully passed with flying colours.
The over all pass percentage of Tibetan schools is up by 0.20% from the last year, when some 951 out of 1050 students passed the exams.
The exam results this year have been outstanding in both individual or collective performances, said Tsering Phuntsok, the education officer at the Department of Education.
Among the 14 Tibetan schools, the SOS TCV Bylakuppe and CST Paonta Sahib top the charts with a 100% pass percentage.
The rest follows as SOS TCV Gopalpur, CST Mundgod CST Bylakupee, SOS Upper TCV, CST Dalhousie, CST Darjeeling, THF Mussoorie, CST Mussoorie, CST Kalimpong, CST Shimla, CST Herbertpur, and TNPF Clementown.
Kelsang Choedon of CST Mundgod topped in Science stream with a score of 86.8%, while Sonam Topgyal of TCV Bylakuppe was the Commerce topper, with 89.4%, and Thinley Wangchuk of CST Mussoorie in the Humanities stream with 85.2%.
The 77 students who have failed in two subjects will have to reappear in the exams slated for July or August.
Some 20 students have failed in three or more subjects.
With the cumulative pass rate of 90.77%, the Tibetan schools ranked among the toppers, along with the Kendriya Vidyalayas (93.14%) and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (90.11%).
The total pass percentage of whole of India, of total 4,95,016 students, went up from 79.55 per cent last year to 80.64 this year.
