Guwahati: Bharat Tibbat Sahyog Manch, one of the Indian Tibet Support Groups founded on 5 May 1999 organized its 8th Tawang Yatra on 19 November. A day before it was formally flagged off by Honorable Governor of Assam Prof. Jagdish Mukhi, a meeting was convened by executive members of BTSM on the evening of 18 November at Rukmininagar Auditorium to inform about the objectives and precautions of the yatra. The evening event was also graced by the presence of Honorable Governor of Assam, Prof. Jagdish Mukhi, Sh. Rinchen Khandu Krimey, National Convener, Core Group for Tibetan Cause –India and Sh. Pankaj Goyal, General Secretary, Bharat Tibbat Sahyog Manch.
The welcome and introductory speech, as given by Sh. Pankaj Goyal, General Secretary, Bharat Tibbat Sahyog Manch underlined the historical background of Tawang Yatra – its objectives and achievements. He specifically mentioned about what India lost to China – in one of the most betrayal act in the history of mankind that only emphasize the ideology of communism. He informed the public that this Yatra could have been also blessed by Sh. Indresh Kumar but due to sudden breakdown of his health, he was unable to participate. Whereas Sh. Goyal made it possible for the yatris to receive Sh. Indresh Kumar ji’s blessing through cellphone during which he addressed the significance of Yatra and wished all the success in this endeavour.
Speaking as Guest of Honor, Sh. R. K. Khrimey, National Convener for Tibetan Cause – India, mentioned what role each and every Yatri can play after the conclusion of this Yatra. He reaffirmed about the sentiments of people of Arunachal Pradesh that they belong only to Bharat. It is the people of Arunachal Pradesh and Indian Army that has safeguarded the boundary of India from illegal incursion that Chinese invaders have been trying now and then. He underlined the urgency of the Tibetan situation inside Tibet under Chinese rule that requires to be bringing out at every occasion locally and globally to understand the ill design of Chinese invasion.
Sh. Jigmey Tsultrim, Coordinator for ITCO expressed the gratitude on behalf of all Tibetan people for showing such continuous support for the cause of Tibet and assured that message of this Yatra may not allow the Chinese government to have comfortable sleep. He also emphasized upon other activities being carried out by other Indian Tibet Support Groups and to work with them together also.
Chief Guest at the event, Prof. Jagdish Mukhi, Honorable Governor of Assam said this Yatra is not only about excursion and tourism but of an opportunity to express solidarity and emotion with the people of Arunachal Pradesh that despite all the odds and hardships of terrain, they are still part of India.
He congratulated Sh. Indresh Kumar ji for bringing up such thought and reality of this Yatra in visualizing the boundaries of Bharat Mata and its essence. Moreover, Prof. Mukhi also stressed the Chinese attempts to slow down the development pace of India by engaging support to those ill elements of Indian nationality and solidarity. He assured that India cannot be stopped by any ill design as India has proved its capability, skill and resources. He wished every Yatris success, learning and more engaged from this Yatra in nation-building measures.
8th Tawang Yatra is joined by more than 350 Yatris from across the states of India from youth to elderly people, from activist to professional and from domestic caretakers to organizational oriented people.
