Dharamshala: Acting Chief Justice Commissioner Karma Damdul and Justice Commissioner Tenzin Lungtok from the Tibetan Supreme Justice Commission (TSJC) paid an official visit to Ladakh from 19 – 26 September 2022.
On their arrival in Ladakh on 20 September, the two were accorded an elaborate welcome by the local dignitaries and staff of the Sonamling’s Local Justice Commission (TLJC) in Ladakh. The next day, the Acting Chief Justice Commissioner and Justice Commissioner met with the secretary and members of the Local Tibetan Cooperative Society’s Board Directors to discuss obtaining land use for the TLJC office. The two visiting justice commissioners also toured the Sonamling Tibetan settlement after the meeting.
On 22 September, the duo paid visits to Phodang Gepheling, three local monasteries of the settlement, and Thikse Monastery, during which the Acting Chief Justice Commissioner and Justice Commissioner also met Thikse Rinpoche.
On 23 September, the visiting delegation addressed the local dignitaries and apprised them about the inception and development of TJSC in exile, responsibilities and power, elements, numbers and the roles of the Circuit and Local Justice Commission, etc. The address was concluded with a question and answer session.
The week-long official visit was successfully wrapped up on 26 September.
