TAIPEI, Taiwan: Addressing a prayer gathering here in Taipei, Representative Dawa Tsering, Office of Tibet, Taiwan expressed profound sadness over the death of Tenga, who carried out self-immolation protest against Chinese government on 26 November.
Over 50 Tibetans and Taiwanese gathered in front of the Liberty Square to offer their prayers and respect for the late Tibetan self-immolator.
It was reported that Tenga had raised calls for freedom in Tibet while burning. Minutes into the self-immolation protest, police quickly arrived at the scene and took away the charred body.
The prayer service was organised on the first day of a ten-day exhibition on the history of Tibet by the Taiwan Tibetan Welfare Association.
Lobsang Tsering, the vice-president of the association expressed profound grief and urged the Tibetan people to exert greater effort towards the Tibetan cause.
