DHARAMSHALA: A Tibetan monk named Lobsang Thubten from Kirti Monastery, Ngaba (incorporated into China’s Sichuan Province), was arrested by Chinese police after he staged a solo protest against the Chinese government around 3:00 pm on 2 May.
According to reports, Lobsang Thubten was seen shouting slogans in the main street of Ngaba with a portrait of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in his hands. Chinese security forces immediately arrived at the spot and arrested him. His current whereabouts and condition are since unknown.
Thubten is from division no. 1 of Meruma pastoral district, Ngaba County in Amdo Region of north-eastern Tibet.
