Tokyo: Tibet Support Groups in Japan held its annual meeting on 18 February 2024. Save Tibet Network, Tibet House Japan, and the Tibetan Community Japan (TCJ) organised the meeting.
Makino Seishu, Chairman of the Save Tibet Network, welcomed the members and spoke on how he was associated with the Tibet issue for all these years and how the Tibetan struggle for freedom and democracy is linked to peace and harmony in the world. He reminded the members of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s message of peace and non-violence and resolution of conflicts through dialog.
Ishikawa Akimasa, Member of Parliament and General Secretary of the Japan Parliamentary Support Group for Tibet, expressed support for the resolution of the Tibet issue and informed the members of the activities of the Parliamentary support group to this effect. He talked about the visit of the Department of Information and International’s Kalon Norzin Dolma’s visit last year and how it further strengthened the relationship between the Japanese parliamentarians and the Central Tibetan Administration.
Secretary Karma Choeying of the Department of Information and International Relations greeted and thanked the members for their sincere support. He talked about how China is getting aggressive and destroying Tibetan religion, culture, and identity.
Dr. Tsewang Gyalpo Arya, Representative of the Liaison Office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama for Japan and East Asia, updated the members on the activities of the office and gave brief information on the current situation in Tibet. He also informed them of the upcoming International Tibet Support Group conference in Brussels. He talked about the plan of action for the year 2024 and the concept of Tibet Village in Japan and requested their support.
Representatives of the Support groups introduced themselves and spoke on the activities they carried out during the year. Nine major support groups and their members participated and discussed Tibet-related issues.
Makino Seishu thanked the participants and requested their commitment to continue their good works supporting freedom and justice for the people suffering under the unjust dictatorial Chinese communist regime.
