Tenzingang: On the last leg of Guwahati, Tezpur, Bomdila, Dhirang and Tawang tour, Members of Core Group for Tibetan Cause – India were accorded a special welcome at Tenzingang Tibetan Settlement of Bomdila District. The Tibetan people lined up to receive the members of CGTC-I, holding traditional scarves, dressed in traditional attire with whole heartedly for their selfless initiatives for the cause of Tibetan freedom.
Followed by reception, a meeting was organized at Gyuto Tantric Monastery, Bomdila where Mr. Yangdrup, Tibetan Settlement Officer, formally welcomed the members with traditional scarves being given away by Chief Administrator of the monastery. The Settlement Officer acknowledged the effort and continuing initiatives of Indian Tibet Support Groups for voicing against Chinese atrocities and keeping the flame of Tibetan movement unblemished.
The Coordinator for ITCO, introduced the apex body of Core Group for Tibetan Cause-India and its objectives. He drew the attention upon proper coordination of programs and events that may generate more voice and energy in bringing more support and protest against the deeds of CCP. From Guwahati Press Conference to Tezpur Press Meet, from Tawang Peace Procession to Guwahati Candle Light Vigil, he outlined the people’s uproar against Chinese Communist Government that is becoming more impactful as the days passing by.
Sh. Surendra Kumar, senior most member and National Co-Convener, Core Group for Tibetan Cause – India, in his address, reminded the gathering of centuries old relationship between India and Tibet – safe and friendly – where there is no requirement of permission to engage into pilgrimage or trade and commerce. Whereas after the illegal occupation of Tibet, China has come closer to India with pseudo communist approach to engage, intervene and expand their draconian claws upon India. For this, he reminded the gathering that we all must work together in disseminating proper awareness about the hidden agenda of Chinese Communist Government. He also underlined that the path of Tibetan cause is synonymous with Ahimsa of Mahatma Gandhi based upon principle values of Buddhism.
Sh. Kumar, further stated that the presence of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in India with his approach of Universal Karuna and Maitri remains a light house not only for India but for the whole world. His approach of universal brotherhood, mankind and sadbhavana has been found in the educational curriculum of some of the schools in India including Delhi Government Schools. For this reason, he called upon all the concerned organizations and individuals to urge Government of India to bestow Bharat Ratna to His Holiness the Dalia Lama for his undiminished and ever unending approach of universal mankind.
Sh. Soumyadeep Datta, Regional Convener, Assam and Meghalaya, hailing from Assam with its rich fragrance of culture and tradition, drew out the essence of Tibetan Freedom and its relation with India particularly with North Eastern Region. He hinted upon the cultural destruction of Tibetan Buddhism inside Tibet that was revived and practiced from India yet how it is being still preserved in India under the spiritual leadership of His Holiness the Dalai Lama after his coming to exile since 1959. He urged the gathering to generate these points and reconnect the youth to their roots. He further stated upon the possibilities of innumerous initiatives including selective camping for youth that may involve more enthusiasm in knowing its relevance.
Sh. Datta specifically pointed out how Chinese Communist policies are affecting upon the lives of Indian people through ecological destruction, military aggression and sponsoring insurgencies. He hinted that the lifeline for Assamese people – Brahmaputra that originates from Tibet, passes through Arunachal Pradesh and enters Assam remains today under huge threat with the unnatural and forced modification of its flow being diverted and dozens of hydro projects being constructed upon this. Taking this opportunity, he also informed the gathering of upcoming Guwahati Book Fair during which Core Group for Tibetan Cause – India may put up a Tibetan stall to tell the story of its journey into exile and its expectation from unseen tomorrow.
