Dharamshala: After successfully concluding his farewell visit to Darjeeling, Sikyong Dr Lobsang Sangay on Wednesday visited the Sonada Tibetan settlement in Darjeeling.
Sikyong met with the Tibetan residents and had an hour-long interaction with them. Having studied for 2 yrs at Sonada’s Tibetan school, Sikyong expressed his gratitude to the teachers and the residents for making his experience worthwhile and enabling him to become the Sikyong, democratically elected political leader of the Tibetans.
For the Tibetans residing in Kalimpong, Darjeeling, and Gangtok, Sikyong said the difficulty of getting employment at the Central Tibetan Administration has been resolved. The administration has removed the mandatory requirement of the registration certificate for Tibetans when applying for jobs at CTA in case they do not have one. This is one of the notable changes introduced by the administration.
Sikyong also informed that those aspiring to work at CTA can now derive the benefits of Pre-Service Training which is facilitated by the administration.
After the conclusion of Sikyong’s public address, Settlement Officer Tenzin Yangzom presented a Tibetan Thangka as a token of honour and gratitude to Sikyong for his service toward the Tibetan people and the cause of Tibet.

Sikyong lays the foundation stone for Nyatri Khangsar.
