Taiwan: More than a hundred participants consisting of guests, Tibetan residents, monks and nuns of Tibetan Buddhism attended the commemoration of 62nd Tibetan Democracy Day collaboratively organised by the Office of Tibet – Taiwan, Taiwanese Parliamentary Group for Tibet, and Taiwan Tibetan Welfare Association on 2 September 2022 at National Assembly hall, Taiwan.
Following the virtual address of Sikyong Penpa Tsering during the event, which caught the attention of various media houses in Taiwan and India, Representative Kelsang Gyaltsen Bawa introduced Tibetan Democracy Day at the celebration. Moreover, the President of the Tibetan Association in Taiwan, Tashi Tsering, and President Kunchok Lhakpa of the Regional Tibetan Youth Congress (RTYC) also addressed the gathering.
The ceremony of Tibetan Democracy Day was attended and addressed by the Chair of the Taiwanese Parliamentary Group for Tibet, Freddy Lim, along with parliamentarians Hung Sun-Han, Chiu Hsien and Lin Chiu-Yin.
Additionally, the commemoration event hosted by the Office of Tibet’s Secretary Mingyur Youdon and Ying-Chun Liu (Taiwanese Parliamentary Group for Tibet’s Legislative assistance) was also partaken by Secretary Shih Yi Hsiang from the National Human Rights Commission of Taiwan, Secretary Wuer Kaixi from Taiwan Parliamentary Human Rights Commission, Wenshang University’s Planning Director Lee Ming -Che, and Secretary Sky Fung of Hong Kong Youth.
Apart from these, the attending guests were also entertained with Tibetan cultural performances and butter tea during the event.
