
Sikyong Penpa Tsering Extends Condolences Over Demise of Shri Kishan Kapoor Ji.
Dharamshala: On 3 February 2025, Sikyong Penpa Tsering of the Central Tibetan Administration expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Shri Kishan Kapoor Ji, former Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) and a long-time supporter of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan cause.
In a heartfelt condolence letter addressed to Rekha Kapoor (his wife), Sikyong extended his deepest sympathies, remembering Shri Kishan Kapoor Ji as a true friend of Tibet. He recalled Kapoor Ji’s deep respect for His Holiness the Dalai Lama and his continuous efforts to have the spiritual leader honoured with India’s highest civilian award, the Bharat Ratna.
Beyond his admiration for His Holiness, Shri Kishan Kapoor Ji was a strong advocate for Tibet, often emphasising the need for a peaceful resolution to the border dispute with China and recognising Tibet’s central role in the issue.
“As a steadfast advocate, he stood in solidarity with the Tibetan cause. Today, we mourn the loss of a genuine friend and ally whose unwavering support for Tibet will always be cherished with deep gratitude,” Sikyong wrote in his message.
He conveyed his prayers and condolences to the Rekha Kapoor, the Kapoor family and all those who had the privilege of knowing Shri Kishan Kapoor Ji during this difficult time.
