Shillong: The settlement officer of Shillong met with School and College heads to introduce the secular ethics and four principal commitments of His Holiness the Dalai Lama towards universal responsibility and peaceful humanity.
Pema Dhondup met with the Principals of St. Anthony College, Sankardev College, St. Anthony Higher Secondary School, Vice Chancellor of North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) and, as a gesture of goodwill, donated (Book of Joy) and Freedom in Exile to the respective school and college libraries for the benefit of students.
His visit to the educational institutes is to raise awareness about the profound commitment of H.H the Dalai Lama, including promoting human values and inter-religious harmony.
At the invitation of St. Anthony School, Pema Dhondup spoke to the faculty and students and extended appreciation to the Principal and Faculty members for sustaining the legacy of St. Anthony School as one of the most prestigious schools. He commended the dedication and devotion of the Principal, Teaching and non-teaching staff and urged the students to embrace the secular values of love and compassion along with modern education and channelise the energy to create a peaceful and compassionate society.
The president of the Local Tibetan Association, abbot of Gaden Choeling monastery and office secretary, accompanied during the meeting of educational heads.
