Shillong: On 24 March 2022, a round table conversation on religious harmony and interfaith meeting was held at Tibetan Buddhist Monastery in Shillong, which was moderated by Bishop P Lyngdoh, the President of Shillong All Faith Forum.
His Eminence Geshe Lobsang Samten, the Abbot of Drepung Loseling Monastery participated in the meeting with twenty faith leaders to promote religious harmony and peace.
During the meeting, Geshe Lobsang Samten said, “Human values such as love, compassion, and patience are common to all religions. These cannot be purchased from the market. They must be developed within oneself.” His Eminence further appealed everyone to promote these important values and respectfully support one another.
The meeting was successfully concluded with active participation from other faith leaders, including His Grace Archbishop Victor Lyngdoh, Naba Banerjee from Central Puja Committee, Noor Nongrum of Shillong Muslim Union, Jasbir Singh from the Sikh Community and others.
On the following day, His Eminence Geshe Lobsang Samten, Tibetan Settlement Officer Pema Dhondup, President of the Local Tibetan Assembly Shelok Tsering and Incharge of Tibetan Cultural Centre made a courtesy call to the Honourable Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Shri Conrad K Sangma and discussed the ongoing construction of Tibetan Cultural Learning Centre envisioned by His Holiness the Dalai Lama in 2014.
The Honourable Chief Minister applauded the project and expressed his support for the preservation and promotion of Tibetan unique culture.
