Kalmyk: Representative of Office of Tibet, Moscow, Telo Tulku Rinpoche addressed the annual parliamentary meeting of religious heads on 18 December. The Kalmyk Republics Parliament (Khural) held its annual meeting with religious leaders of the Republic and held discussion on ‘Moral values and future of Humanity’.

Addressing the parliament meeting, Representative Telo Tulku Rinpoche said, “Respected Chairman and members of the Khural, I thank you for the opportunity to speak and it is a great blessing for me to be speaking on behalf of the Buddhist and represent H.H. the Dalai Lama as well as Central Tibetan Administration. Allow me to thank the people of Kalmykia for its unwavering support and standing with the Tibetan people in solidarity.”

The discussion was chaired by Chairman of the Kalmyk Parliament (Khural), Anatoly Kazachko. He congratulated Telo Tulku Rinpoche on his 25th year anniversary as the head lama of Kalmyk Republic. “Our dear respected Telo Tulku Rinpoche, we congratulate you on your 25 years anniversary as Shadjin Lama (Head Lama) of Kamyk Republic and it has been a pleasure working with you for the for many years and our prayers and wishes that you will remain with us many years ahead of us,” Chairman Kazachko said.

Deputies of the major political parties of Russian Federation was represented during this Annual Parliament meeting.

Representative Telo Tulku Rinpoche Presents CTA President’s letter to Head of Republic of Kalmyk
Honorary representatives Telo Tulku Rinpoche attended the Kalmyk New Year (Zuul) Festivities in Elista, the capital of Kalmyk Republic and congratulated the Kalmyk People on behalf of President Dr Lobsang Sangay, Central Tibetan Administration.

He presented the congratulatory letter from President Dr Lobsang Sangay to the head of Republic of Kalmykia, Alexie Orlov.

The letter reads, “The people of Tibet and Kalmykia are bound Together by shared historical, cultural and spiritual connections since the 17th century when Buddhism spread from Tibet to Kalmykia. Taking this opportunity, I would like express our gratitude to the people of Kalmykia for the warm welcome extended to His Holiness the Dalai Lama the great 14th during his visit to Kalmyk Republic in 1092, 1992 and 2004.”

In the afternoon, a round table discussion was organised by the head of the Muslims of the Northern Caucasus of the Russian Federation and Honorary Representative Telo Tulku Rinpoceh was invited to address the gathering. Representative spoke of the how inspirational His Holiness the Dalai Lama has been for the Kalmyk people.

“We Buddhists, as admirers as well as disciples of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, always follow the advice and guidance shown by him. He is a Nobel Peace Laureate and advocate for goodness of humanity, religious harmony and environment. We share the ideals and principle of the Dalai Lama and welcome all to join in this effort in promoting His Holiness’ second main commitment, inter religious harmony.”

Telo Tulku Rinpoche is also a member of an inter religious council representing Buddhist, Orthodox and Muslims. The council aims to promote understanding and open dialogue.
