Durban: Representative Ngodup Dorjee gave a PowerPoint Presentation talk on the ‘Environmental Situation in Tibet’ on 19 November at a conference to a rapt audience of more than 50 representatives and environmental activists from 17 Durban based civil societies such as Climate Justice Charter Movement, Greenpeace Durban Local group, Zero Waste Durban, Cultures of Resistance, Interfaith Youth Climate Forum etc., who have collectively organised Festival of Alternatives to the COP 27 for two weekends on 12-13 and 19-20 November.
The presentation consisted of Why the Tibetan Plateau matters and the Current Environmental Situation in Tibet under the Chinese occupation. After the presentation, there was lively questions and answer session. The audiences very much appreciated the presentation and stated that they have learned many new insights about the climate change taking place in Tibet and its far reaching implication to billions of people being sustained by its waters.
