Dharamshala: The Public Service Commission held an inaugural ceremony for the 10-day-long Tibetan language training workshop for CTA civil servants (junior clerk to section officer) at College for Higher Tibetan Studies, Sarah on 7 August 2023.
The ceremony was presided over by the chief guest Public Service Commissioner Wangdu Tsering Pesur, joined by Principal Passang Tsering from Sarah College, Secretary Tenzin Minlay and instructors from the college.
Principal Passang Tsering spoke of the responsibility of the participants in making this workshop a success and the sustenance of the programme long after its conclusion. He informed them of the topics that would be covered over the 10-day long workshop.
Public Service Commissioner Wangdu Tsering Pesur addressed the gathering on the significance of the workshop, especially as every aspect of Tibetan identity, language, culture and religion is under attack inside Tibet in light of China’s hardline policies. He reminded the participants of the efforts of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the elder generations in the preservation of Tibetan religion and culture.
Secretary Tenzin Minlay of Sarah College delivered the vote of thanks.
The training was funded by USAID and NDI.
