Taiwan: The 10th March preparatory committee in Taiwan, including the Tibetan Association of Taiwan and Regional Tibetan Youth Congress, was making all-out preparations for the upcoming 65th Tibetan National Uprising Day commemoration under the leadership of the Taipei-based Office of Tibet.
In the afternoon of 2 January 2024, presided over by Representative Kelsang Gyaltsen Bawa, the Office of Tibet convened the president and executive committee of the Tibetan Association of Taiwan and members of the non-governmental Tibetan Support Groups, along with its staff at the office to discuss arrangements for the commemoration day. Following that, Representative Bawa held a seclusive meeting with the president and executive members of the Tibetan Association for 45 minutes.
On 26 January, the second prep meeting – presided over by the Secretary of the Office of Tibet – was held at the Tibetan Association’s Ka Kha Ga Nga community hall in Taoyuan City. The gathering resolved that the Tibetan Association and Regional Tibetan Youth Congress, with support from the other NGOs, would assume responsibility for preparing the commemoration of Tibetan National Uprising Day.
The third preparatory committee meeting was held at the Office of Tibet in the afternoon of 5 March, during which detailed discussions were held on the campaign banner, speakers for the day, organising press conferences, and issues that needed to be taken into account during the commemoration day’s peaceful march.
