
Prayer Services Held in Belgium to Mourn the Victims of Dingri Earthquake Tragedy
Brussels: Members of the Tibetan community in Belgium organised prayer services in Antwerp and Brussels in solidarity with the catastrophic loss of lives and destruction caused by the recent earthquake in Tibet.
On 11 January 2025, the Regional U-Tsang Community and Regional Tibetan Women’s Association in Belgium jointly organised a five-hour prayer service at the Karma Sonam Gyatso Ling Tibetan Buddhist Centre.
Among the more than 100 participants, Tenzin Nordhen, an accountant at the Bureau du Tibet, attended as an official representative from the Office of Tibet, Brussels.
A similar prayer gathering was held by the Belgium Domey Association on 12 January at the Institute Nalanda in Brussels.
Thinley Wangdue, the Secretary of the Bureau du Tibet, participated in the service as a representative from the Office of Tibet, Brussels. He provided the gathering with a brief outline of the unsolicited tragedy before the prayers began.
At the same time, Jigme, President of the Belgium Domey Association, announced that this year’s Domey Losar (New Year), scheduled for 15 February, would be postponed in solidarity with the victims of the Dingri earthquake.
