Office of Tibet in Taipei Calls on Taiwan’s New Labour Minister Hung Sun-han
Taipei: On 8 January 2025, Representative Kalsang Gyaltsen Bawa, accompanied by the secretary and staff of the Office of Tibet in Taipei, paid a courtesy visit to Taiwan’s newly appointed Labour Minister, honourable Hung Sun-han, at his office. During the visit, the Tibetan delegation presented a congratulatory letter from the Tibetan Parliament in Exile on his new role and extended their best wishes on behalf of the Central Tibetan Administration.
In the course of the meeting, the Tibetan delegation apprised Minister Hung, who had previously served as the Vice Chair and later as the Chair of the Taiwan Parliamentary Group for Tibet during the 10th and 11th Legislative Yuan, about the recent devastating earthquake that struck Dingri and surrounding areas in Tibet.
Later that afternoon, Representative Kalsang Gyaltsen Bawa presided over a preparatory meeting with various NGOs to discuss plans for the upcoming Tibetan National Uprising Day. This session built upon earlier discussions held on 28 November 2024 and 1 January 2025 at the Office of Tibet. During those meetings, the Representative, along with the Chair, Vice Chair, and Executive members of the Tibetan Association in Taiwan, discussed various aspects, including the theme for the 2025 10th March commemoration, press releases, banner slogans, how to address matters related to the Dingri earthquake, and arrangements for receiving guests during the events.
