Choejor Tibetan settlement, Nepal: Since the outbreak of Wuhan-originated COVID-19, countermeasures such as the distribution of Rinchen rilsung to the public through Men Tsee Khang have been succesfully conducted.
In addition, a few local NGOs carried out the distribution of stipends to 12 designated destitute, 17 special needs individuals, 5 elderly destitute and 8 individuals with difficulties on March 31. Similarly, 5 individuals who were in need of housing allowance, were provided with the same.
Nearby, situated Hope and Challenge organisation’s Director Geshey Sonam Wangchen donated ration supplies to Tibetan poor and more than 400 locals in the Choejor and Jokhel settlements.
The Home Department, CTA taking into account the unemployment and difficulty in paying housing rent caused by the pandemic, has made provisions for availing a one-time relief aid for the scattered Tibetan community, after receipt of application through the concerned Settlement office. A total of 131 individuals have benefited from the aid which is set at 8,000 each and amounts to a total sum of Nepali rupees 1,048,000.
