Press Release
Following its world premiere at the 76th Venice International Film Festival in August last year, and the subsequent Global Online Launch in December of the same year, the much acclaimed feature-length documentary film The Dalai Lama – Scientist is set for its UK premiere in London on 28th February 2020.
Coinciding with the celebrations to usher in the Tibetan New Year, the multi-award winning documentary film will be screened for the first time in the UK at The Prince Charles Cinema, https://princecharlescinema.
Having celebrated its 25th founding anniversary last year, the UK registered charity Tibet House Trust http://www.tibet-house-trust.
Containing extensive rare and never-before-seen footage, The Dalai Lama – Scientist tells ‘the very human story of the Dalai Lama that no one knows.’ His Holiness the Dalai Lama tells his own story in his own words of his lifelong journey from the world of Buddhism into the world of modern science, and how the world has changed as a result.
‘For more than 30 years, I have spent much time with these Western Scientists. When I think about myself now, sometimes I think I am only one-half Buddhist monk. The other-half Scientist.’ – His Holiness the Dalai Lama
The Dalai Lama – Scientist is the sixth in Peace Jam Production’s award-winning ‘Nobel Legacy Film Series’. The film’s producer, director and writer Ms Dawn Gifford Engle is also the co-founder of the PeaceJam Foundation http://www.peacejam.org/, an international nonprofit organization led by 14 Nobel Peace Prize laureates with a mission statement to ‘create young leaders committed to positive change in themselves, their communities and the world through the inspiration of Nobel Peace Laureates who pass on the spirit, skills and wisdom they embody.’
‘I am delighted with the impending UK premiere in London of The Dalai Lama – Scientist, during the Tibetan New Year celebration, and hope the screening as well as the accompanying publicity will help reach the core message of this documentary to as wide an audience as possible, especially the younger generation – who will stand to gain much from this experience.’ said Ms Engle.
The review by The Independent Critic, an independent voice for the reel world, reads: The Dalai Lama – Scientist is a revelation, both transcendent and immersive, and humanizes The Dalai Lama in a way I’ve never witnessed on the big screen. It’s beautiful to behold. An absolute must-see… I truly loved every minute of it.
