Dharamsala: A circular issued by Kashag announced its decision to upgrade Shimla Settlement Office to Chief Representative’s Office. The circular read as follows:
As the Central Tibetan Administration is based at Dharamshala in the state of Himachal Pradesh, the Tibetan settlement office in Shimla, the state’s capital, has till now applied and liaised strenuously to foster a cordial and harmonious relationship between the Central Tibetan Administration and the state government based in the city.
However, several high-level leaders and officials from the state, have offered counsel in the benefits of establishing a representative’s office in the state capital to directly coordinate with the Central Tibetan Administration. As a result, the Kashag, following successive discussions and deliberations on the matter, have decided to upgrade the existing settlement office in Shimla to Chief Representative’s office, equivalent to the Chief representative’s office based in Bangalore, and the Chief representative’s office based in Ladakh.
The decision is implemented as per Order 1263 (62) 2017-18 as on 12 October 2017.
