HUNSUR, 30 June: Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa, Karnataka Minister for Public Works Department and Mysore District In-charge Minister, on Friday agreed to sanction funds for the construction of a new road in the Bylakuppe settlement, while directing top district officials to grant Tibetans all necessary support, including the issuance of ration cards to needy Tibetan families.
The Honorable Minister for PWD visited the Hunsur Rabgayling settlement on Friday, along with the Deputy Commissioner of Mysore District, Assistant Commissioner of Hunsur Division and Deputy Director of Food & Civil Supplies, on the behest of Mr. Chophel Thupten, Chief Representative, South Zone, CTA and Settlement Officers of Lugsam, Dickey Larsoe and Rab-gayling settlements.
The Chief Representative, on behalf of the three settlement officers, apprised the Minister some of the issues faced by Tibetan refugees. Mr. Thupten brought to the Minister’s attention the need for Below Poverty Line (BPL) ration cards for the needy Tibetan families, consumer license permission to open Fair Price shop in the settlements, a Panchayat system and road renovation in all three Tibetan settlements.
During his address, the Minister for PWD asked the Deputy Commissioner of Mysore District and Assistant Commissioner to extend all necessary support to Tibetans residing in the Mysore District. He also agreed to grant funds for the construction of a new road in the Lugsam settlement, Bylakuppe.
The Deputy Commissioner and Deputy Director of Food & Civil Supplies Department also agreed to issue BPL ration cards for poor and needy families in the Tibetan settlements of Mysore District. The officials also agreed to grant permission for the issuance of a license to open ration consumer shop (fair price shop) at each of the Tibetan settlements.
The Minister for PWD was felicitated at the meeting at Hunsur, and he and the accompanying government officials were accorded a warm welcome at the settlement by the Chief Representative, South Zone, CTA and the three settlement officers, along with the heads of various monasteries, Tibetan co-operative societies and Tibetan organizations.
Settlement Officer, Mr. Dorjee Rinzin, Rabgyaling Hunsur Settlement, expressed his gratitude to the Minister and the other officials for visiting the Tibetan settlement. The three settlement officers jointly hosted a lunch for all the visiting dignitaries.
