Kalon Tripa inaugurates the Mass Movement of the Middle-Way Approach

Tibetan people have reinforce their commitment on the Middle-Way
Approach, as the best and mutually beneficial solution in resolving the
issue of Tibet, by forming a peopleïž’s movement.

Dharamshala: The first Tibetan
peopleïž’s movement was formed to support the Middle-Way Approach to
peacefully resolve the issue of Tibet. More than 400 people gathered
during the inaugural ceremony of the two-day conference of the mass
movement held at Yongling school on 15 February.
In his opening remarks, former MP Yonten Gyatso, a member of
the mass movement emphatically said: “The Tibetan people as a whole has
shown strong support to the peopleïž’s movement of the Middle-Way
Approach.”
“Based on the principle of non-violence, the movement aims to
achieve genuine autonomy for all Tibetans living in the three
traditional provinces of Tibet, so that, Tibetans could preserve
Tibetan culture, language, religion and national identity,” he added.

In his message to the members of the mass movement, His Holiness
the Dalai Lama said: “A growing number of educated Chinese people
viewed the Middle-Way Approach, unanimously adopted by the Tibetan
people as the most beneficial method to offer mutual benefits to China
as well as Tibet.”
His Holiness underlined that Tibetan people to put sustainable
effort in the preservation and protection of our tradition and cultural
heritage. The younger generation should excel in specialized fields of
study, His Holiness added.
His Holiness underlined the importance of promoting better
understanding of the meaning of Middle-Way Approach to the Chinese and
people from different countries.
Lauding the inception of mass movement, Chief Guest Kalon Tripa
Samdhong Rinpoche said, the Middle-Way Policy has kept alive the issue
of Tibet and gained respect and support from across the world.
Urging the members to keep the mass movement sustainable on a
long term basis, Kalon Tripa expressed his hope that a sincere faith
with clear understanding of the Middle-Way Approach will greatly
benefit in resolving the issue of Tibet. He stated that it will send an
unambiguous message to the Peopleïž’s Republic of China, of our
commitment to the approach.
The Middle-Way Approach is a policy proposed by His Holiness
the Dalai Lama, and the then Assembly of Tibetan Peopleïž’s Deputies
unanimously adpoted a resolution on 18 September 1997 in support of the
policy.
