New Delhi: Kalon (Minister) Dolma Gyari of the Department of Security, Central Tibetan Administration, attended the closing ceremony of the Bharat Tibbat Sahyog Manch’s silver jubilee celebration on 6 May 2024 at the Constitution Club of India. The event garnered significant attendance from both the Tibetan and Indian communities, and around 200 members gathered to support the Tibetan cause.
Among the attendees were Shri Dr Indresh Kumar, Patron of BTSM; Kalon Dolma Gyari; Shri Rinchen Khandu Khrimey, National Convener of core group for Tibetan Cause-India; Shri Pamkaj Goyal, the National General Secretary of BTSM; Shri Sardar S.S. Sandhu, ADG of CRPF; Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok, former Deputy Speaker of Tibetan Parliament in Exile and senior advisor of Bharat Tibet Sayog Manch; and Dr Geeta Singh, Professor at Delhi University, headed the event as guest speakers.
Kalon Gyari Dolma, in her speech, addressed the attendees of the India-Tibet relationship since ancient times by referring to the widely accepted theory of the 1st king of the Yarlung Dynasty. She reiterated the existence of brotherhood between India and Tibet, given the fact that Buddhism, as much as 99% of Tibetan people currently follow, and stated that the Tibetan language is deeply rooted in the Sanskrit language.
The CTA Kalon made sure that it was heard amongst the attendees and beyond that India never shared an inch of the border with China in its entire history of existence prior to the forceful occupation of Tibet by the Chinese Communist Party. The CTA Kalon stated, “Arunachal is very much a part of the Republic of India” in response to China’s recent attempt to rename 30 more places in Arunachal Pradesh. She expressed her gratitude towards India for granting asylum to the Tibetan people and letting the community establish its own administration. The CTA Kalon also appealed to the Indian Government to change its position from its earlier ambiguous policy on the Tibet-China conflict.
Shri Sardar S.S. Sandhu, ADG of CRPF, went back in time during the event, referring to the Dogra-Tibetan war in the mid-nineteenth century to assert that India never shared a border with China prior to the illegal occupation of Tibet.
Shri Dr. Indresh Kumar, Patron of BTSM, addressed the gathering with an overview of the decade-long relationship between India and Tibet, touching on Historical, Cultural, and Intellectual aspects. He even convinced the attendees that he would appeal to the United Nations regarding the Tibet Issue.
The event included felicitating Tibet supporters for their unwavering support of the Tibetan cause and the representative of the Tibetan regional organization.
The India Tibet Coordination Office distributed Tibet-related books and magazines to all the attendees and witnessed more engagement from the youth. Through engaging speakers and courageous attendees, the event proved to be a remarkable convergence of inspiration and collaboration for the Cause of Tibet.
