
Kalimpong Tibetan Settlement celebrates the enactment of the US Sino-Tibetan Resolution Law on 20 July 2024
Kalimpong: The Kalimpong Tibetan settlement office, together with the resident Tibetan community, convened an event to express profound gratitude for the historic enactment of the US Sino-Tibetan Resolution Law. The event was attended by the President and Chairman of the Local Tibetan Assembly, India Tibet Friendship Society Kalimpong’s Vice President Shri Lobsang Tamang, the school principal, the Men-Tse-Khang sMenpa, and representatives from the monasteries. The attendees collectively commemorated the enactment with expressions of appreciation and celebration on 20 July 2024.
The Tibetan settlement officer, the President of the Local Tibetan Assembly, and the Vice President of the India Tibet Friendship Society individually delivered addresses expressing gratitude on behalf of the residents.This significant law, a result of rigorous efforts, holds immense importance for Tibetan community. Their remarks notably emphasised the rigorous process of obtaining the Tibet-China conflict resolution bill, emphasising its significance as it has been enacted into law under the 16th Kashag administration. They also highlighted the collective efforts of all ground workers, acknowledging their invaluable contributions to this historic achievement.
A total of 350 attendees, including government officials and representatives from non-governmental organisations, participated in the gratitude event.
The event received coverage from local newspapers and media outlets, including Himalaya Darpan, The Echo of India, KTV Kalimpong, Kalimpong Dainik, The Himal World, and the Gorkha Channel on YouTube.
Upon the event’s conclusion, the culturally enriching performances by the members of Gangjong Doegar and students of Kalimpong Sambhota Tibetan School. In addition, the event ended with a public performance of the Tibetan Circle dance.
