Mundgod: On 8 January 2025, Joint Secretary Rinchen Wangmo officially assumed the charge as Tibetan Settlement Officer of Doeguling Settlement during a formal handover ceremony held at the settlement office.
The ceremony was presided over by Officiating Settlement Officer (Ledung) Tenzin Lodoe and witnessed by Chief Representative Officer of the South Zone, Jigme Tsultrim. The event commenced with the offering of a portrait of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, symbolising blessings for the new term, followed by a traditional khatag offering to the new Settlement Officer by the Chief Representative Officer.
The ceremony was attended by a distinguished gathering, including Heads of monasteries, the Head and Speaker of the Local Tibetan Assembly, the President of the Local Tibetan Assembly, school representatives, camp leaders, the Chairman of the Cooperative Office, and representatives of various associations.
In her inaugural address, Rinchen Wangmo expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the trust bestowed upon her and pledged to dedicate herself to the service and progress of the settlement. Chief Representative Officer Jigme Tsultrim emphasised the importance of collaboration and leadership in fostering community well-being and progress.
The ceremony concluded with prayers for the prosperity of the settlement, invoking the blessings of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. This event marked an important transition for the settlement and underscored the community’s commitment to preserving its values and striving for a brighter future.
