New Delhi: Paying tribute to the father of nation Mahatma Gandhi as the day coincides with his death anniversary which is observed as Shaheed Diwas, India Tibet Friendship Society (ITFS), one of the oldest Tibet Support Groups in India organized a virtual meeting of its chapters from all over India titled “Bharat Tibbat Maitri Sangh Samvad“on Sunday, 30th January, 2022.
The main purpose of the meeting was to reorganize and re–strengthen the group in order to actively work for the cause of Tibet.
Dr. Manoj Kumar, ITFS Organizing Secretary welcomed and briefed the members regarding the ITFS Virtual Meeting.
Dr. Anand Kumar, ITFS National General Secretary in his introductory address shared that India Tibet Friendship Society had not been able to organize its National Conference due to Covid Pandemic, but this should not hamper the work of the group for the Tibetan cause. He said that the members can meet virtually from time to time given the current circumstances and discuss and prepare plans and programs which will keep the group proactive.
Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok, Former Deputy Speaker, Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile who was special invitee to the meeting highlighted about the current situation inside Tibet and Tibet support activities in diaspora.
ITFS Members attending the meeting updated about the activities and programs being carried out by their respective chapters in recent times. Later, the members discussed and shared their opinions and suggestions in re–strengthening ITFS especially during this CovidPandemic to work more vigorously for the Tibetan movement.
The meeting has decided to expand ITFS branches in more districts of the country so as to create more awareness on Tibet to the Indian masses.
During the meeting, the members also remembered and offered their condolences to late ITFS members including Dr. Dauji Gupta, Dr. P.G. Jyotikar, Shri Harish Adyalkar and all other Tibet Supporters who have passed away in the journey Tibbat Mukti Sadhana.
The Virtual Meeting was attended by 25 ITFS Chapters including Shri Surendra Kumar, ITFS Muzaffarpur and National Co-Convener, Core Group for Tibetan Cause – India (CGTC-I); Shri Sudesh Kumar Chandravanshi, ITFS Hazaribagh and Regional Convener, CGTC-I; Dr. Amit Jyotikar, ITFS Gujarat; Shri Tsewang Paljor, ITFS Kalimpong; Dr. Devendra Prasad Singh, ITFS Patna; Smt. Resham Bala, ITFS Jodhpur; Shri Naveen Paneru. ITFS Nainital; Shri Amrut Bansod, ITFS Nagpur and others.
