Ladakh: The newly appointed Home Secretary Palden Dhondup made an assessment visit to Ladakh’s Tibetan communities including the nomadic community.
This 12- day visitation from 3-14 November was to review the implementation of various welfare projects approved by the 16th Kashag for Tibetans in Leh and Jangthang.
During the first four days post arrival, the Home Secretary took an inspection tour of the eight nomadic communities in Jangthang comprising of Makhyu, Hanle, Goyul, Kagshung, Nyoma, Sumdho, Chumur, and Samey to understand the situation and need of the nomads. He investigated in detail the completed and the ongoing projects that were approved during Sikyong Penpa Tsering’s visit to Ladakh in August last year.
After concluding engagements in Jangthang, Secretary Palden visited Leh on 9 November to inspect the TCV school, old age home, and interact with the members of Tibetan community there. On 10th, he was invited to inaugurate a series of completed projects. He inaugurated the newly constructed cafeteria and a dressing room at football ground of Sonamling’s Camp 2. He then inaugurated the newly built community hall at Agling, inaugurated the renovated community kitchen and community hall of camp 4 and 5 respectively. After that, he went for an inspection tour of the ongoing projects. From 11-13 November, Secretary Palden is scheduled to meet officials of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council including local dignitaries. Thereafter, he is scheduled to visit Tibetan community in Agling and interact with organic and non organic farmers. He will also visit Chief Representative Office and Tibetan local bodies followed by an address to the community members of Sonamling settlement. The Home Secretary is scheduled to return on 14 November.
