Dharamshala: As the Tibetan community confronts the unprecedented challenges posed by the ongoing outbreak of pandemic and the subsequent nation-wide lockdown, Sikyong Dr Lobsang Sangay on 7 May has directed the Department of Home to allocate COVID-19 Emergency Support Funds to those Tibetans facing distress and are presently stranded due to the nationwide lockdown because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Department of Home, CTA has received a total of 2000 number of applications for the support fund through respective Tibetan settlement offices across India, Nepal, and Bhutan. These applications will be further reviewed by Nodal Officers of the Department of Home to ensure that the applicants fulfill the basic criteria to avail of this emergency support.
This one-time relief support of INR 5000 will be disbursed to one qualified applicant per family through the concerned settlement officers.
