RIGA, Latvia: His Holiness the Dalai Lama arrived in Riga, Latvia on Friday after successfully concluding Lithuania visit. His Holiness was received by Telo Tulku Rinpoche, Honorary Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama for Mongolia, Russia and CIS.
Over the next two days, His Holiness will be teaching on Tsongkhapa’s In Praise of Dependant Origination (tendrel toepa) and Diamond Cutter Sutra (dorjee chodpa) at Skonto Hall, Riga. On June 18 morning, His Holiness the Dalai Lama will confer Manjushree Empowerment (jamphelyang jenang) and Avalokisteswara Empowerment (chenrezig jenang). The visit is being hosted by Save Tibet Latvia, Save Tibet Foundation (Moscow) and Tibet Culture and Information Center, Moscow (Office of Tibet, Moscow).
“We are happy to be hosting His Holiness the Dalai Lama for the fourth teaching for Russian and Baltic Buddhists. We are honored and blessed to have the opportunity to organise this teaching and for the opportunity to receive the Manjushri and Avalokiteswara Initiations. The diamond sutra is revered as an important text for all Kalmykia, Tuvans and Buryats and we are grateful to have His Holiness the Dalai Lama give new commentary to this important text,” said Telo Tulku Rinpoche, Honorary Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama for Mongolia, Russia and CIS.
His Holiness last visited Latvia in September 2017.
