DEHRADUN: Kalon Choekyong Wangchuk, Department of Health, CTA began his official visit to Health centers and clinics in Dehradun from 19 May. The main objective of the visit was to observe and understand the condition of Tibetan health centers with regard to its structure, clinical equipment and other facilities.

Kalon was received by Settlement officers on his arrival. He visited Ngoenga School for Special Children at Dehradun and made an inspection visit around the campus, classrooms and foster homes.

Kalon later gave a talk to the teachers and staff, in which he spoke about the importance of the school. He advised them to serve to the best of their abilities and to strictly adhere to the rules and guidelines of their institutions.

On his second day, Kalon visited Naveen Kiran Counseling and Rehabilitation Center near Dekyiling. He was received by Shri Uday Pratap Singh, Director, Naveen Kiran Counseling and Rehabilitation Center.

Following a brief tour of the institution, Kalon met the patients and inspired them to spend their lives in a meaningful and productive way. He also wished them speedy recovery and for their future endeavors.

He later visited Tsering Dhonden Settlement where he met with the local representatives to discuss various issues related to health, facilities and local drainage problem.

Kalon also visited Zhedhey Khangsar Rehabilitation Center in Rajpur. After meeting the Director and staff, Kalon went to each patient and shared inspiring words for their recovery. He encouraged them to overcome their weaknesses and come back to serve the community.

In the afternoon, Kalon had a meeting with Tibetan nurses in Dehradun. He recommended establishing a voluntary association aiming to preserve Tibetan identity and to help needy Tibetans who come for treatment.

Later, he visited Lingtsang Tibetan Settlement at Manduwala and held a brief meeting. He visited clinics, playground and various facilities to take a stock of the settlement.

Kalon will continue with his official visit in coming days.
