Taiwan: A four-member delegation of the US Congressional-Executive Commission on China visited the Office of Tibet in Taiwan on Wednesday, 6 September. The delegation consisting of Piero A. Tozza, Matt Squeri, Scott E. Flipse, and Anna Scott Bell met with Representative Kelsang Gyaltsen Bawa to discuss matters concerning the Tibet cause and the current situation in Tibet under the hardline policies being implemented by the Xi government to annihilate Tibetan cultural and national identity.
The Representative also apprised the visiting delegation of the roles and responsibilities of the office including the support rendered by the Taiwan government to the Tibetan struggle.
The delegation expressed their solidarity for Tibet and conveyed their admiration for His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s vision and contributions to the preservation of Tibetan language, religion, and culture. They assured the continuous support of the US to the aspirations of His Holiness and the Tibetans. They presented CECC’s 2022 Annual Report on China to Representative Bawa and the latter presented them with a book titled ‘International Resolutions and Recognition on Tibet’ published by the Department of Information and International Relations, CTA.
During their visit to Taiwan, the delegation is set to attend a conference on Religion and Culture to be held from 6-8 September.
